My name is Ian Black and I have over twenty years in the pest control business which I began after serving in the Australian army for many years.
During the 1990's until 2008 I was fortunate to be successful in running one of the largest pest control companies in Australia; however in 2008 I sold the business so I could follow my life long dream to travel to Vietnam and teach English, therefore giving opportunities for them to earn higher wages and support their families.
I moved to Nha Trang where I lived and began my teaching. During this time in Vietnam I was very involved with the local community and happened to befriend the owners of Vietnam’s largest Pest Control Company VFC " Vietnam Fumigation Company. " It was here that I assisted in protecting many large resorts as well as the Hue city Television station.
The owners of VFC were keen to learn about everything I knew about a non poison termite baiting system, also known as “EXTERRA.” Termites are a huge problem in Vietnam just as they are in SE Queensland. Many Vietnamese people do not want poisons being sprayed in their beautiful country as it had endured enough during the war.
With my guidance, VFC applied for a license and after a considerable amount of time were granted the license to be a Vietnamese Distributor for EXTERRA. Vietnam is now one of the largest users of this technology in Asia.
Family commitments caused my wife and I to return to Brisbane and continue business in the pest control industry. As a sole trader in Ian Black Pest Control, I believe in honesty, integrity, and respect for your home and our environment.

*I am a very proud family man an thank God for my beautiful wife Sylvia who has put up with me in marriage the past 33 years. We have been in the Bayside area for the past 25 years. Tim my eldest son attended Cleveland High School and now lives in the USA and works as a professional photographer. My daughter Melissa attended Sheldon College and now lives and works in Shanghai for an internet sales company. My youngest son Phil worked in Malaysia and Vietnam as a scuba dive master and instructor. He is now back in Brisbane and working for Aldi supermarkets. God Bless.
